Pastor's Column SEPTEMBER 2010
These are exciting days here at First Baptist Church Kosciusko. I sense a fresh movement of God's will being made known in His Body and Bride. God is at work. God has His plan and purpose that He continues to offer His people. This continued steady movement of God in the life of His church is being revealed in many different ways when we open up His spiritual world. I sense also freshness in God's people to know His will, grow in His will and serve His will. This excitement is witnessed by the churches' desire in not wanting worship, prayer and Bible study to be limited by a certain day and time. Everyday is the Lord's day, and everyday and in every action I am seeing your excitement in bringing glory and honor to the name of our Lord. When this is witnessed in your life, you can be assured that renewal is happening and will only grow stronger and stronger day by day. All will then begin to see the freshness of God spreading throughout our community. Now these are exciting days to see and even greater to live faithfully before our God. But, wherever God is at work and wherever there are people filled with a desire to follow Him faithfully, you will find that Satan and his demons are busy with his destructive power and havoc being worked against God's children. So, how do we stay on track Christians? How do we remain fresh and vibrant for our Lord day by day? How do we continue to grow and thrive for our God's perfect glory? May I suggest a few ways through this article and encourage you to become open and obedient to God's Holy Spirit's leading in your individual life and in Jesus' Body and Bride called His church?
Dive deep into the depths of God's presence. Prayer continues to be the key to God's presence through His Son Jesus Christ. I am always amazed to see the beautiful and amazing creation of God in the great depths of the oceans around the world as I watch some programs aired about our world and natures beauty. Without these deep under sea subs probing the ocean floors, we would have never been able to see or enjoy the vast beauty of this part of God's wonderful created world. Dive deep to experience and see all that God offers to those bold enough to meet Him in prayer.
Climb high to reach the summit. The Word of God still remains a mystery to many Christians to their shame. Many refuse to climb believing that the Word of God is too big or too difficult to ever understand. That can only be one of Satan's great lies. From the heights of His World, we are able to see the greatness of God's world. Halfway up will only give you half of a view. The views from space take our breath away as we look back upon earth and look away to the magnitude of God's universe. God's Word reveals to us His truths and therefore we must climb as hard and as high as it might seem to allow God to speak to us through His Word.
Wait with an expectant surprise. Every sunrise and every sunset gives to us all the handiwork of God. He is the great Master artist at work, as the sky becomes His canvas. Now we are all treated by our God to a new day or the end of a glorious God given day. Learn to wait upon the Lord and experience what His desires and plans are versus our own weak rendering of plans.
Dive deep, climb high and wait expectantly for every fresh movement of our God to celebrate and glorify His name above all names. These then will truly be exciting days at the First Baptist Church Kosciusko.
